This month Off The Beaten Track celebrates the Central Pennsylvania Festival of the Arts, or just ‘Arts Festival’ as we know it. This year’s festival is July 9th-12th in downtown State College.

Thousands of people come to State College for Arts Festival, but few know two great places to cool down; Stone Valley/Lake Perez and Bald Eagle State Park.  Don’t forget to plan a visit to Boalsburg, where the  Peoples Festival offers a huge array of arts and crafts. While you are there, stop in at the Christopher Columbus Chapel and Boal Mansion Museum.

On campus, the Astronomy will be hosting AstroFest each evening during Arts Festival, with the Davey Lab telescopes open for star gazing. The Penn State Arboretum is an oasis of tranquility,  and if there is any money left in your wallet the Penn State salvage store is just down the road.

Finish your day with a stop at the Happy Valley Winery to sample their award winning local wines.
